BAR in the Aviation Sports Galla
Kampala Uganda, 11th August, with the intention of ensuring good health and fitness of professionals, BAR sponsored and participated in the second Aviation sports Galla held at Kawuku Sports Arena on the 9th September,2023. The football Galla kicked off at 8am to 5pm was open to anybody working in the Aviation industry both as experts and unprofessional.
This monumental event was spear headed by Captain Aziz Sentamu the president of the Uganda Professional Pilots Association which unites pilots and Engineers within Uganda. The initiative started last year in September 2022 with participants from many different airlines and aviation schools with Vine Air emerging as the first champion for the Galla. In this second edition, we had teams from BAR AVIATION which was our headline sponsor, Police Air Wing, Vine Air, Entebbe Fitness Association(air force team), Civil Aviation Authority with two teams, Airserv, Soroti Flying school, Ocean Heights, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Uganda Air Traffic Controllers Association( UGATCA) who all competed for the trophy.
The football Galla was intent on team building, promoting fitness among professionals, build strong relationships between companies in the Aviation industry not just as competitors in the business but as people working together for the better good of Uganda as a nation. It was also a social get together for the Aviation companies to share experiences and challenges and interact with each other under the same umbrella.Captain Aziz Sentamu the President of Uganda Professional Pilots Association appreciated BAR for taking this year’s tournament to the peak by putting in all the necessary efforts and support. He looks forward to carrying on with this initiative at a more regular level since a once in a year Galla does not guarantee fitness.
Bukenya Nathan, Director of Marketing at BAR says that BAR AVIATION felt the urge to give back to the community and so it felt an honor that they could sponsor and also take part in the sports Galla. As a way of team building and bridging the gap between professionals like an engineer or pilot and a cleaner or cook. He emphasized the fact that BAR is here to serve Ugandans with due diligence, from the chartered planes, drones, BAR SOS, and BAR Aviation Academy as well as maintenance and repairs of aircraft.
